February A2 Governor’s newsletter
Dear Lions:
How is your year going so far? I’ve heard many good things about
events within this great district of A2. In these tough economic
times, the local Lions are digging in to help those in need within
their own communities AND the outpouring of help to the disaster in
Haiti has been overwhelming. We have heard of everything from
special tail twister fines to special fund raisers to assist the
citizens of Haiti. That society lost more than we will ever
imagine. Those who had little to lose and lost everything and those
who have lost at least one person in their family circle or their
entire family circle. Our hearts and our dollars go out to aid in
the ongoing relief work.
The district of A2 was well represented at the 34th
annual “Hands across the border” dinner in Niagara Falls New York on
Tuesday, January 19th. Our own PDG Lion Cathy Bock-Tyler
was one of the guest speakers. Her encouraging words to Lions and
members of the Lions family were most appreciated by all the
attendees.

On February 11th, the District A2 Dog Guide will be
graduating. All of you are invited to this special celebration at
Lions Foundation, Oakville at 7:00 p.m. We are hoping for a good
turn out of Lions and Lions family as we meet our first District dog
and owner. The generosity of the A2 District Lions and Lions family
has made this possible. We are now contemplating the second Dog on
behalf of this Great District. You are all amazing. See you there
Just a reminder of our upcoming Friendship Convention in St.
Catharines on March 26, 27, and 28th. The convention
committee has been meeting and have proceedings well under way. We
look forward to welcoming ID Lion Ron Johnson and June for the week
end. Lion Ron comes to us from the great state of Maine and
he comes to us by way of starting out as a Leo. Get your
applications and reservations in early.
The Lions of the world will be meeting in Australia for the annual
convention. Information is available in the MDA magazine and on the
website.
Opportunity Knocks: Just a reminder that it will soon be time to
elect your club officers for the 2010-2011 year. Download the PU101
forms from the website.
Club Officers Leadership Training Session will be on Aril 29th
at Cayuga. Mark this date on your calendar.
