Vice Governor’s Message for 2007-2008

 Fellow Lions:

 CHALLENGE TO CHANGE

For the Entire Lions Family of District A-2

THE CHALLENGE:
To rejuvenate the progressive district. We are challenging each club to increase their membership with a net growth of 2 this year and 2 next year.
This is a minimum not a maximum.

ASSISTANCE:

1. Information nights with 4 or 5 cabinet chairs or elected officers explaining their part of Lionism to all Lions that might wish to attend but especially to the newer Lions. If we are more aware of the positive things that Lions stand for we will be able to retain our members and attract new ones.

2. Emphasize involvement . People do not join Lions to sit and socialize. Especially the younger generation want to feel a part of something very meaningful.

3. Lions Bob Allen and Vi Roseborough Have a power point demonstration that will emphasize how to get and retain members. This will be used at either the first or second Zone Advisory.

4. Extension is always a controversial topic but we would like to see areas with clubs that appeal to all male, all female and co-ed. It is not permissible to have an area where a suitable person or persons are denied the right to join a club in their area. This of course includes Lions, Lioness and Leo clubs.

5.Leadership is to be emphasized after the other matters are successful. Last year successful meetings were held at the end of the year and we propose to continue these and we will add to them the duties of President, Secretary and Treasurer. PDG Lion Bob Allen and VDG Lion Al Beamer will be in charge.

6. Zone Chairs and Region Chairs are to emphasize membership at each of their visits. Zone chairs are asked to be responsible for the delivery of information.

7. Each club should have at the least a membership chair (Preferably a committee of 3). The Zone Chairs are to collect these names to facilitate the dissemination of information.

8.To help with retention each club should appoint a Lions awareness chair and they should be given a few minutes at each meeting to educate the members regarding all aspects of Lionism.

9. A suggestion has been made to have a district pin. One would be given to each new member of the Lions family (Lions, Lioness, Leos). The Vice District Governor is responsible for getting prices etc, for the next cabinet meeting. Other members would be encouraged to buy them.

10. The Proud Lion program will be retained and emphasized especially with newer members . If Lions complete the necessary steps they will be more knowledgable Lions.
